The King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center Digital Archive provides snapshots into the distinct and dynamic history of law and the courts in Hawaii, spanning the Hawaiian Kingdom, Territory, and Statehood. The Digital Archive launched in July 2024, made possible by the Permanent Legacy Foundation’s Byte4Byte Grant and student internship program. Read about the initiative on Permanent’s Blog or the Judiciary’s website.
The database is periodically updated with newly digitized resources from the Judiciary’s historic collections. Contact us to schedule an appointment in the archives, or to volunteer as a collections assistant. View the Judiciary History Center’s Collection Access Policy here.
We encourage you to complete this brief survey about your experience using the Digital Archive.
