WHO WE ARE
Founded in the early 1970s by Chief Justice William S. Richardson to advise the Judiciary on the restoration of Aliiolani Hale, the Friends of the Judiciary History Center of Hawaii became a 50l(c)(3) in 1986 to support the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center. At the Center, staff interpret centuries of Hawaii’s legal history and contemporary issues, informing and inspiring our community of their part in Hawaii’s unique civic process.
BE A PART OF LIVING HISTORY
As a Friend of JHC, you play a crucial role in supporting the Center’s education mission to shed light on the Judiciary’s past, present, and future. History is created daily at Hawaii’s Supreme Court, Intermediate Court of Appeals, and the Circuit and District Courts. By supporting the Friends, you support the Center’s efforts to promote public access to and engagement with Hawaii’s courts and the government’s Third Branch overall.
JOIN
Annual memberships with the Friends of JHC support the museum’s mission to interpret and educate the public about the judicial process and Hawaii’s legal history from wa kahiko (the past) through keia manawa (present day). Your generosity helps the Center provide educational workshops, public programs, and exhibitions to the public, and to care for and promote our permanent collections.
