The National Judicial College and the Judiciary History Center present a reenactment of the landmark US Supreme Court case Korematsu v. United States. Written by Judge Denny Chin and Kathy Chin and featuring Leigh-Ann Miyasato, a member of Fred Korematsu’s legal team, this program delves into the incarceration of Japanese and Japanese Americans during the Second World War.
Following the reenactment, Professor Troy Andrade of the William S. Richardson School of Law will facilitate a discussion on the meaning of the Korematsu trial and how we can learn from mistakes of the past.
This program is presented with support from the National Judicial College, the Judiciary History Center, the Beta Beta Gamma Foundation, the Hawaii State Bar Foundation, and the donors of the MoveMeHawaii program.
